Spluxly’s free online Swim Pace Calculator is a comprehensive swimming performance tool designed for competitive swimmers, coaches, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to monitor and improve their times in the pool. Enter your swim distance, select your stroke, and input your total time in hours, minutes, seconds, and milliseconds to instantly calculate your pace per 100 meters or yards, view your total swim time formatted cleanly, and see a full set of split times broken down at every 100-unit interval. The calculator supports all five major swimming strokes — Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, and Individual Medley — and toggles seamlessly between metres and yards to match any pool format. Saved records are stored in a personal swim history log and visualised in an interactive line chart that tracks pace trends across multiple sessions, while a stats panel displays your best pace, average pace, most swum distance, and favourite stroke at a glance. An optional notes field lets you log session observations alongside each record for richer training insights. Completely free, no registration required.

How Swim Pace Is Calculated

Swim pace is expressed as the time taken to complete 100 meters or 100 yards and is calculated by dividing the total swim time by the number of 100-unit intervals in the total distance.

Pace Per 100 Formula: Pace per 100 = Total Time (seconds) ÷ (Distance ÷ 100)

Split Times: Split times are generated by applying the pace per 100 figure cumulatively across each 100-unit segment of the total distance, showing the expected time at each checkpoint throughout the swim.

Example for a 1500m Freestyle swim completed in 20 minutes 15 seconds:

  • Total Time: 1215 seconds
  • Distance Intervals: 1500 ÷ 100 = 15 intervals
  • Pace per 100m: 1215 ÷ 15 = 81 seconds (1:21 per 100m)
  • Split at 100m: 1:21 | Split at 200m: 2:42 | Split at 300m: 4:03 … and so on

Unit Conversion: When yards are selected, all pace and split calculations are performed using yards as the base unit, with results displayed as pace per 100 yards.
