Blended Interest Rate Calculator

Calculate the weighted average interest rate across multiple accounts

Enter your account details:

What is a blended interest rate?

A blended interest rate is the weighted average of interest rates across multiple accounts or loans, where each rate is weighted by its corresponding balance. This is calculated by:

Blended Rate = (Sum of [Balance × Rate]) ÷ Total Balance

For example, if you have $10,000 at 2% and $5,000 at 3%, your blended rate would be (($10,000 × 2%) + ($5,000 × 3%)) ÷ $15,000 = 2.33%

Spluxly’s free online Blended Interest Rate Calculator is a precise and flexible financial tool designed for investors, accountants, financial planners, and anyone who manages multiple loans or savings accounts and needs to understand the single weighted average interest rate that represents all of them combined. A blended interest rate — also called a weighted average interest rate — is calculated by weighting each account’s interest rate by its balance as a proportion of the total combined balance, producing a single representative rate that reflects the true cost or yield of the entire portfolio. Enter two or more account balances and their corresponding interest rates, and the calculator instantly returns the total combined balance and the blended interest rate to two decimal places, updating in real time with every input change. A step-by-step calculation breakdown displays each account’s individual balance multiplied by its rate contribution so the weighted average computation is fully transparent. Unlimited account entries can be added or removed dynamically, and results are formatted for clean PDF export via the browser print menu. Whether you are blending rates across multiple personal loans, consolidating savings accounts, evaluating a debt portfolio, or working through a financial planning scenario, this calculator delivers an instant and accurate result. Formula Used

The blended interest rate is calculated using the weighted average formula, where each account’s interest rate is weighted by its balance as a proportion of the total combined balance.

Blended Rate Formula: Blended Rate = Σ (Balance × Rate) ÷ Total Balance

Where:

  • Balance = The outstanding balance of each individual account
  • Rate = The interest rate for each individual account as a percentage
  • Total Balance = The sum of all account balances

Example for two accounts — $10,000 at 2% and $5,000 at 3%:

  • Weighted Sum: ($10,000 × 2%) + ($5,000 × 3%) = $200 + $150 = $350
  • Total Balance: $10,000 + $5,000 = $15,000
  • Blended Rate: $350 ÷ $15,000 = 2.33%

Example for three accounts — $20,000 at 4%, $10,000 at 6%, and $5,000 at 8%:

  • Weighted Sum: ($20,000 × 4%) + ($10,000 × 6%) + ($5,000 × 8%) = $800 + $600 + $400 = $1,800
  • Total Balance: $35,000
  • Blended Rate: $1,800 ÷ $35,000 = 5.14%

Why Blended Rate Matters: When managing multiple loans or investment accounts with different rates and balances, the blended rate gives you a single figure that represents the average cost of all debt or the average yield of all savings simultaneously, making it far more useful for budgeting and financial planning than tracking each rate in isolation.

Common Use Cases:

Scenario How Blended Rate Helps
Multiple personal loans Understand the average cost of total debt
Mortgage and HELOC combined See the true blended cost of home financing
Multiple savings accounts Calculate the effective yield across all deposits
Student loan portfolio Assess overall loan cost for refinancing decisions
