Spluxly’s free online Timesheet Calculator is a powerful and flexible work hours tracking tool designed for employees, freelancers, contractors, payroll administrators, and small business owners who need to calculate total worked hours, regular and overtime splits, and earnings across multiple shifts or work days. Add individual work entries — each with a date, start time, end time, and optional break duration in minutes — and configure your overtime settings using either a Daily Threshold (e.g., anything over 8 hours per day counts as overtime) or a Weekly Threshold (e.g., anything over 40 hours per week counts as overtime). Enter your regular hourly rate and overtime rate to calculate total regular pay, total overtime pay, and gross earnings alongside the hours summary. Results are displayed in a comprehensive breakdown table showing every work entry with its date, start time, end time, break minutes, regular hours, overtime hours, and total hours, plus a summary card with totals across all entries. Work entries can be added and removed dynamically with no upper limit on the number of shifts. Completely free, no registration required.

How Timesheet Hours and Pay Are Calculated
Work hours and earnings are calculated per entry based on shift duration minus break time, with overtime determined by the selected threshold method.
Hours Per Entry: Hours Worked = (End Time − Start Time) − Break Duration (minutes ÷ 60)
Example for a shift from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a 30-minute break:
- Raw Duration: 9 hours
- Break Deduction: 0.5 hours
- Hours Worked: 8.5 hours
Daily Threshold Overtime: Regular Hours = Min(Hours Worked, Daily Threshold) Overtime Hours = Max(0, Hours Worked − Daily Threshold)
Example with an 8-hour daily threshold and 8.5 hours worked:
- Regular Hours: 8.0
- Overtime Hours: 0.5
Weekly Threshold Overtime: All entries are summed first. Regular hours are capped at the weekly threshold across all entries combined, with remaining hours classed as overtime.
Earnings Calculation: Regular Pay = Regular Hours × Regular Hourly Rate Overtime Pay = Overtime Hours × Overtime Hourly Rate Gross Earnings = Regular Pay + Overtime Pay
Example with 8 regular hours at $20/hr and 0.5 overtime hours at $30/hr:
- Regular Pay: 8 × $20 = $160.00
- Overtime Pay: 0.5 × $30 = $15.00
- Gross Earnings: $175.00
