Spluxly’s free online Weighted Grade Calculator is a flexible and intuitive academic tool designed for students who need to calculate their final course grade from multiple assignments, assessments, and components that each carry a different percentage weight. Unlike a simple average that treats all scores equally, a weighted grade calculation multiplies each assignment score by its assigned weight and sums all contributions together, reflecting the true impact each component has on the overall course grade. Enter each assignment with an optional name, a percentage score (0 to 100), and a percentage weight, and the calculator instantly computes your running weighted final grade displayed prominently in points out of 100. A dynamic colour-coded bar chart visualises all assignment scores side by side for an immediate comparative view of your performance across every component. A built-in weight validation alert warns automatically if your total weights deviate from 100%, ensuring your result is always based on a correctly distributed grade structure. Add an unlimited number of assignments, remove individual entries, and export a clean single-page PDF via your browser’s print menu for academic records or submission. Completely free, no registration required.

How to Use the Weighted Grade Calculator Online

Calculating your weighted final grade takes just a few steps. Follow these simple instructions:

  • Enter Assignment Name (optional) – Type a label for the assignment or assessment component (e.g., Midterm Exam, Lab Report, Homework) to identify it clearly in your assignment table

How Weighted Grade Is Calculated

A weighted grade is calculated by multiplying each assignment’s percentage score by its weight as a decimal, summing all the weighted contributions, and dividing by the total of all weights to produce the final grade.

Weighted Final Grade Formula: Final Grade = Σ (Assignment Score × Assignment Weight) ÷ Σ (Assignment Weights)

When all weights sum correctly to 100%, the formula simplifies to: Final Grade = Σ (Assignment Score × (Weight ÷ 100))

Example for three components:

AssignmentScoreWeightWeighted Contribution
Homework90%20%90 × 0.20 = 18.0
Midterm Exam78%30%78 × 0.30 = 23.4
Final Exam85%50%85 × 0.50 = 42.5
Total 100%83.9 points

Final Weighted Grade = 18.0 + 23.4 + 42.5 = 83.9 / 100

What Happens if Weights Do Not Sum to 100%: If the total of all entered weights is less than or greater than 100%, the calculator still produces a result but displays a warning alert. The formula divides the total weighted points by the actual sum of weights rather than 100, which may not reflect the true course grade structure — making the alert an important accuracy check.
