Saved Semesters
- Unweighted GPA: A 4.0 scale with A=4.0, B=3.0, etc.
- Weighted GPA: Honors courses +0.5, AP/IB courses +1.0 (on top of unweighted)
- Grades below D (F) receive 0 for both unweighted and weighted.
Spluxly’s free online High School GPA Calculator is a powerful and student-friendly academic tracking tool designed for high school students who need to calculate both their weighted and unweighted GPA across multiple semesters. Enter your courses with their names, credit hours, letter grades (A+ through F), and course level (Regular, Honors, or AP/IB) and the calculator instantly computes your current semester GPA in both unweighted and weighted formats. Weighted GPA applies the standard course level adjustments — Honors courses receive a 0.5 bonus and AP/IB courses receive a 1.0 bonus on top of the base 4.0 scale — giving a more accurate reflection of academic rigour. Save completed semesters to build a cumulative GPA record that aggregates all courses across every saved term, and track your academic progress visually through an interactive GPA trend chart. Saved semesters are stored locally between sessions so your complete history is always available. Results are optimised for clean single-page PDF export for college applications, scholarship submissions, or personal records. Completely free, no registration required.

How High School GPA Is Calculated
High school GPA is calculated using a weighted average of grade points multiplied by credit hours across all courses in a semester.
Unweighted Grade Point Scale (Standard 4.0):
| Letter Grade | Grade Points |
|---|---|
| A+ / A | 4.0 |
| A− | 3.7 |
| B+ | 3.3 |
| B | 3.0 |
| B− | 2.7 |
| C+ | 2.3 |
| C | 2.0 |
| C− | 1.7 |
| D+ | 1.3 |
| D | 1.0 |
| F | 0.0 |
Weighted Course Level Adjustments:
| Course Level | Bonus Added |
|---|---|
| Regular | +0.0 |
| Honors | +0.5 |
| AP / IB | +1.0 |
Semester GPA Formula: Semester GPA = Σ (Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours
Example for three courses — English/Regular (A, 1 credit), Calculus/AP (B+, 1 credit), History/Honors (A−, 1 credit):
- English: 4.0 × 1 = 4.0 (unweighted) / 4.0 × 1 = 4.0 (weighted)
- Calculus AP: 3.3 × 1 = 3.3 (unweighted) / (3.3 + 1.0) × 1 = 4.3 (weighted)
- History Honors: 3.7 × 1 = 3.7 (unweighted) / (3.7 + 0.5) × 1 = 4.2 (weighted)
- Unweighted GPA: (4.0 + 3.3 + 3.7) ÷ 3 = 3.67
- Weighted GPA: (4.0 + 4.3 + 4.2) ÷ 3 = 4.17
Cumulative GPA: Cumulative GPA aggregates all grade points and credit hours across every saved semester, recalculating the overall average each time a new semester is saved.
